It Only Happened Once

It Only Happened Once
In the time before life
When the universe emerged
The planets and the stars
Collided and converged
The Earth became two
Our moon filled the sky
Setting the stage for life
For life to be alive
Whatever prompted life to begin
It only happened once
That is the most amazing fact
The most amazing fact we know
The first spark of life
In extreme atmosphere
Was compounds evolving
Replication appeared
The smallest of beings
Born from the blue
For centuries and ages
Life took hold and grew
First there was one cell
One cell became two
Two cells became four
Life began to soar
Through epochs and eras
Life would survive
Adapting to currents
And riding the tide
From plants to animals
From sea to land
From species to species
Leading to man

Someone Planted a Seed
04:18
|

Someone Planted a Seed
We are in the last minute of the last day
If all time was just a year
We were animals then gathered and hunted
Through the years persevere
Then someone planted a seed
Someone built a shrine
Somebody fell in love
And added to the bloodline
First a village, cities would come
Exploring the world, expanding our love
City states became nations strong
Cultures filled with right and wrong
We learned to lay down laws
We learned to keep the score
We learned to work as a team
But mostly we waged war
With a hope and with a dream
That everyone can rise above
Then we can open up, find the good
And live our lives in love
Someone planted a seed
Someone opened their heart
Somebody changed a belief
We just have to start
We are in the last minute of the last day
If all time was just a year
We are the chance to make a difference
To live our lives without fear

The Arrogance of Man
01:02
|
|||
The Arrogance of Man
Suns are extinguished and die planets perish
And scatter across the sky
Other suns are ignited, they become new
And planets form to make their orbits true
And man, who is a minute part
On an insignificant planet
Believes that the universe
Was made for him
Lyrics adapted from Paul-Henri Thiry, The System of Nature (1770)

The Most Precious Life

The Most Precious Life
She came from up, I came from down
She gave her heart, I came around
We made a vow to become one
A branch of our tree had just begun
As the story goes she wanted more
We wanted a child we could adore
Nine months to wait as he grew strong
A painful birth he came along
And he came to me
For all the world to see
And he was meant to be
The most precious life that I’ve ever seen
He came from up and he came from down
Born out of love, it’s love he found
He’ll live his life, he’ll live his dreams
He’ll live in love by any means
And he came to me
For all the world to see
And he was meant to be
The most precious life that I’ve ever seen

Step By Step
04:03
|
|||
Step By Step
Tiny eyes peeking out of a blanket
I can see him, he doesn’t see me
The way that his mother now holds him
Is the way we all wish it would be
The next time I see him he’s crawling
I can’t believe how big he’s become
This time he sees me quite clearly
Our path together has just begun
Step by step – The bonds of love grow in his heart
Step by step – Amazed by what he sees
Step by step – Learning what he needs to know
Step by step – Fulfilling his destiny
Years go by now he’s in grade school
He learns to give and receive
I see his heart is as big as a mountain
Whatever he wants, he can achieve
Step by step – I watch him walking through the world
Step by step – He’s learning to be free
Step by step – We are all here helping him to grow
Step by step – Fulfilling his destiny
The path of evolution from simple to diverse
Is like the growth and development of man
Ontogeny recapitulates phylogeny
Upon the shoulders of the past we stand
He has grown up to be a young man
We stand now eye to eye
The torch is passed to a new generation
Where rewards and burdens now lie
Step by step – We are all here on this path of life
Step by step – We’re learning how to see
Step by step – Following all who came before
Step by step – Fulfilling our destiny

Wherever You Go
02:56
|

Wherever You Go
Sometimes a mask, sometimes a role
The things we do to hide our souls
Is there a time we can be free
Or is that just not meant to be?
Wherever you go, there you are
Whoever you’ll be is fine with me
Whatever you think is what you believe
Remember to let yourself be
There is a wall, there is a block
Your heart is sealed with a lock
How can I help you show yourself
When you leave it on the shelf?
Wherever you go, there you are
Whoever you’ll be is fine with me
Whatever you think is what you believe
Remember to let yourself be
How can I know where I’m goin’
When there are distractions for free?
How many times have I awoken
To see the best part of me?
What does it mean to be your self?
How can you be somebody else?
I tried it once by wishin’ on a star
But then I found this here guitar
Wherever you go, there you are
Whoever you’ll be is fine with me
Whatever you think is what you believe
Remember to let yourself be
Remember to let yourself be
Remember to let yourself be

Home

Home
I bought this little house in 1984
The hinges were all loose like the handles on the doors
It needed a shower and a roof
But this was the house that I called home
My kids each had a room to play and be alone
They left shoes by there door until they both were grown
They mean the world to me
And this is the house that they call home
Home’s a place where memories live it’s always safe and warm
Home is where you know that you will ride out the storm
The kitchen’s filled with love that’s where Sue is now
Her laughter fills the air, you know I love that sound
In a moment lost in time
These are the days I call mine
My home’s a place where my memories live I’m always safe and warm
My home is where I know that I will ride out the storm
Now the roof needs repair, the old shower leaks
I won’t always live here, someday I’ll be too weak
This house will stand when I’m gone
But it’s the place that I belong
Our home is where our memories live we’re always safe and warm
Our home is here I know that we will ride out the storm

Wisdom of the Ages

|

Wisdom of the Ages
In his school he was the best
Leaving behind all the rest
Til his dad fell from the tree
Changed his life from being free
He thought he'd cure his father's fate
He’d find a way before too late
So a doctor he became
Deep within him burned this flame
Wisdom of the ages everything he had to earn
With knowledge to pass down
To those who take their turn
I hope I can be like him
But I have so much to learn
His father passed at fifty-nine
A milestone for him to climb
He outlived his father's span
Twenty years more as a man
Wisdom of the ages everything he had to earn
With knowledge to pass down
To those who take their turn
I hope I can be like him
But I have so much to learn
What is the scale? How do we chase
A man who's mind could illuminate?
We all are blessed he touched our lives
When he shared his knowledge and
Gave us more than he received he believed
In wisdom of the ages
Wisdom of the ages everything he had to earn
With knowledge to pass down
To those who take their turn
I hope I can be like him
But I have so much to learn
Wisdom of the ages my own will take their turn

Life My Way

|

Life My Way
Today is the oldest I have ever been
And the youngest I'll ever be again
Aches and pains, slowing down, forgetfulness
Feel that I am aging now and then
But my time’s not measured in years you know
I'm only as old as I feel
It's the quality of life and not the amount
That helps to make it real
Each lifetime is lived day by day
Every moment has something to say
All that matters is your time
So live your life your way
Find meaning in your day
All this will end when my time has come
I know my spirit will leave behind
All my memories, my thoughts and everyone I love
There'll be nothing left to find
I live my life each day to day
Every moment has something to say
All that matters is my time
So I live my life my way
I find meaning every day
I think that I will stay
I have so much more to say

Final Moments

Final Moments
Today has been determined
By the way you lived yesterday
So tomorrow will be created
By the way you live today
Will you sum it up with lessons that you learned?
Will you say goodbye to everyone in turn?
Did you do what you wanted to do
Or does it end without a clue?
In the final moments of my lifetime
Will I know what's right and wrong?
Will I see what really matters
Or will the world just carry on?
Will I sum it up with lessons that I learned?
Will I say goodbye to everyone in turn?
Did I do what I wanted to do
Or does it end without a clue?

All You Need Is Life
04:51
|

All You Need Is Life
We are made of stars from beginning to end
Through every atom we ascend
We are moving toward a truth
As we live here on earth
Every being has worth
All you need is life, life is all you need
To hold on to a dream, to help you to succeed
All you need is life, life is all you need
To show you how to lead, to lift you to perceive
To love and to believe
From here we will evolve to who we are
We are love and energy
Keep your heart open to love
Keep you mind open to life
Life and love will bring you through
All you need is life, life is all you need
To hold on to a dream, to help you to succeed
All you need is life, life is all you need
To show you how to lead, to lift you to perceive
To love and to believe
I’ve seen the tragedy life can bring
Pain and fear living in our soul
And I’ve seen healing love that sings
With each of us becoming whole
[Instrumental]
All you need is life, life is all you need
To hold on to a dream, to help you to succeed
All you need is life, life is all you need
To show you how to lead, to lift you to perceive
To love and to believe
That all you need is life, life is all you need
All you need is life, life is all you need
All you need is life, life is all you need
All you need is life, life is all you need
All you need is life, life is all you need
All you need is life, life is all you need
All you need is life, life is all you need
All you need is life, life is all you need
All you need is life…………..life is all you need

My Legacy
My legacy is all I'll leave
It won't be my stellar personality
I'll leave my collections and all my CDs
I hope it's enough for you to see
I had a lot of fun while I was here
I really love you all so I'll make it clear
My legacy is all I'll leave
I hope you will remember me
I hope you will remember me
Maybe you'll remember me

Chip Kramer Ann Arbor, Michigan
In fifth grade at ten years old, I chose the trombone to play in the grade school band. At twelve years old I learned to
play
I’ll Get You by the Beatles on my brother Dan’s Silvertone acoustic guitar and then in the summer of 1966 I joined a band called The Rising Sons. Thirty years later in 1996 I began doing more songwriting and started producing CDs of original material.
